Went to Red Bank Today

I decided to check out a meeting with the Red Bank Humanists.  I really enjoyed it.  I walked in and was greeted warmly and quickly engaged in conversation with a few people.  We all sat in a circle, topics were introduced one at a time, and a microphone was passed around so anyone who wanted to would be able to speak.  It was interesting how, even though the opinions sometimes differed, and the topics were controversial, the discussion remained intelligent and civilized (face to face contact does that, of course, and I’ve gotten too used to the vitriol that some people spew when they’re anonymous on the Internet!)  We had lunch together afterwards, with a little chatting on the subjects, and a lot of social chat.  It’s about a 35-40 minute drive, but that’s not bad at all, so I’m planning on going out again for the next event.
