New Plants. . .

New Plants. . .

No pictures, because by the time I was done planting and watering, I was too beat to haul wood chips and make it look nice. You’ll see something soon, I promise.

Mom and Dad are really avid rose gardeners now, with over 150 roses, most single specimens, on a lot that’s only 50 feet by 150 feet. As their fondness for the roses has grown, their dislike of all the other plants in their yard with different nutritional and watering needs has grown, as well. So I was visiting them yesterday, and drove home with most of the back of the van filled with stuff. We weren’t able to dig up the two pink spirea, because the roots were too dense and spread out, or else the van >would< have been completely full. I have oriental lilies, salvia, some roses that didn’t fit in with the theme, phlox, malva, and a few other things I don’t remember. It’ll be glorious.

Poor Carolina Wren!

Poor Carolina Wren!

My friend Gayle, whose brother is a birder, got me the information a while back about the bird whose song I found so entertaining. I thought it was multiple birds, but it turns out that it was a Carolina Wren with a very full tummy. These are tiny, adorable little brown feathered birds with a repertoire of song, and what I read said that they will sing continuously for up to 30 minutes after a good meal. My kind of bird!

Unfortunately, Dave’s kind of bird, too. I went out to get the mail today, and there inside one of the sandals I’d left outside the door to dry off from the beach, was a little feathered body. Audrey said she would give the cat a stern talking-to, which I told her would have little or no effect. Hubby tried to console us with the thought that the bird was probably too sick or injured to escape Dave. I assured him that the cat had amazing predatory skills. Audrey agreed. . .”Dave has mad skills” she told us. We’ll start calling him Napoleon, I guess.

I Am So Darned Tired.

I Am So Darned Tired.

I went to the cardiologist today for a checkup, he understands that even though I know in my mind that my heart palpitations are harmless, just keeping me from getting a good night’s rest, so he’s getting me one of those 24 hour halter monitors later this month to be absolutely sure – and reassured. I liked this doctor quite a bit, except that I had to wait over a month for the appointment, and an hour in the office after the time I’d scheduled for the appointment. Ah, well. The kids didn’t seem to mind – I came home and they’d been playing Scrabble the whole time I was gone.
