This is a great place to get free, reputable science information that&#8217;s easy to understand.)<\/p>\n<p>Three videos of talks from Harvard graduate students about epigenetic studies in mice.  <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/16231984\" title=\"You are what your mother ate 1\" target=\"_blank\">Part 1<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/16232103\" title=\"You are what your mother ate 2\" target=\"_blank\">part 2<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/16232329\" title=\"You are what your mother ate 3\" target=\"_blank\">part 3<\/a>.  They&#8217;re a good introduction, but make note that the longevity of the epigenetic effect described turned out to be not quite as promising as they thought it would be back when these were made.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.genome.gov\/27532724#al-1\" title=\"epigenome FAQ\" target=\"_blank\">FAQ about the epigenome<\/a> from the National Human Genome Research Institute.<\/p>\n<p>A good overview, maybe not for an absolute novice, but it comes with pictures: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epigenetics.ch\/epigenetics.html\" title=\"Epigenetics\" target=\"_blank\">Epigenetics<\/a><\/p>\n<p>P. Z. Myers gives an <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/pharyngula\/2008\/07\/22\/epigenetics\/\" title=\"pharyngula epigenetics\" target=\"_blank\">overview<\/a> from the perspective of a university biology professor.<\/p>\n<p>Jerry Coyne, author of &#8220;Why Evolution is True&#8221;, has several good posts about it on his blog, <a href=\"http:\/\/whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com\/2010\/10\/24\/epigenetics-the-light-and-the-way\/\" title=\"Epigenetics, the light and the way\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com\/2010\/11\/04\/epigenetics-kerfuffle\/\" title=\"Epigenetics kerfuffle\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com\/2011\/08\/21\/is-epigenetics-a-revolution-in-evolution\/\" title=\"revolution in evolution\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com\/2011\/09\/26\/epigenetics-again-will-it-cause-a-revolution-in-evolution\/\" title=\"Epigenetics again\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com\/2013\/01\/12\/more-puffery-about-epigenetics-and-my-usual-role-as-go-to-curmudgeon\/\" title=\"Puffery about epigenetics\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>ERV gets into some of the more complex aspects of what it is <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/erv\/2010\/01\/21\/epigenetics-is-not-magic\/\" title=\"Epigenetics is not magic\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Mitchell goes into some of the problems surrounding epigenetics and its misunderstanding.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wiringthebrain.com\/2013\/01\/the-trouble-with-epigenetics-part-1.html\" title=\"trouble with epigenetics 1\" target=\"_blank\">Part 1<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wiringthebrain.com\/2013\/01\/the-trouble-with-epigenetics-part-2.html\" title=\"trouble with epigenetics 2\" target=\"_blank\">part 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And, of course, the incomparable Orac both explains what epigenetics is and how it&#8217;s not what quacks are telling you it is <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/insolence\/2013\/02\/11\/epigenetics-you-keep-using-that-word-i-do-not-think-it-means-what-you-think-it-means\/\" title=\"epigenetics not what you think it means\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.
