New Kittens!

New Kittens!

Three new babies were dropped off last night. They’re 7 weeks old. Nigel and Nancy are siblings, Schubert was dropped off in a shoebox anonymously. They’ll stay here until they’re old enough to get adopted, and they’ve gotten used to other cats and the dog.

Nigel has come out of the crate, but he’s still very nervous about his new situation.

Shoobie has been in another home, but needed more socialization with cats. She’s very cuddly already with me, though. Below her is Nancy, who’s been exploring a bit, but still needs more time to get comfortable.

Aren’t they adorable?

Alfie and Edgar spent the night at the store but it was not a good adoption weekend. Again. The new cat area is almost done, we’ll be making some cat beds tomorrow for it, and with the cats out in the store all week there should be a better response.

In the meantime, one of the other foster “moms” had a change of living circumstance, and couldn’t find a temporary place for one last kitten. Guess who took him?

Clarence is about 12-14 weeks old, and a real sweetie. He’s not quite used to the dog, but he adapted to the other cats pretty quickly. One of the things I was told about him was that he loves very active play, and sometimes doesn’t get the signal that the other cat is tired of it. He’s learning that, too. When his playmate meows or tries in any way to break it off, Judy comes rushing in to see what’s the matter. Clarence stops, hisses and Judy, and retreats. It works perfectly. When he’s not playing, he’ll pop up his tail when you say his name, and come running if you have a lap. He loves vigorous petting and scratching, and meows for more – he’ll stand up and try to stick his head into your mouth or nose, or pull your hand towards his face if he wants more after you stop. He’s quite a little love.
