Something for Laughs and Stuff

Something for Laughs and Stuff

Joel Veitch, the man who brought us spongmonkeys, has composed this little ditty that had me splitting my sides – especially good if you own a cat, but funny even if you don’t: http://www.rathergood.com/knees/

And here’s a silly little combination of the Black Knight scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail – and Star wars: http://youtube.com/watch?v=leEsz9ci5XE&search=black%20knight%2C%20star%20wars

And more Monty Python – this time with Star Trek, with thanks to Gayle and Barry: http://youtube.com/watch?v=C0-OaAGXTx8&search=star%20trek%2C%20knights%20of%20the%20round%20table

And finally, one of the more amazing Sims2 videos I’ve seen in a while: http://www.sims99.com/movie_details.php?dir=JixsTS2&id=5830 It’s big, will take about 3 minutes to download, but well worth it.

Stem Cell Research

Stem Cell Research

Well, over 30 Senators voted against the stem cell research bill – it passed, but our illustrious president has vowed to veto it.  I would like to see the Senators and Mr. Bush put their money where their mouths are and immediately follow this with a bill to outlaw in-vitro fertilization, since it also produces embryos that will be destroyed.  I’m not holding my breath, though.

Where the Woodchips Went

Where the Woodchips Went

It’s actually been a while since I moved woodchips, but since it’s been too hot outdoors to make too much progress, here are some pictures.

The woodchips after the latest work:

What the pond is looking like now:

The woodchips and some of the slate from the front (plus moss from everywhere) was used to make this little patio.  It’s not perfect, but at least we don’t feel like we’re going to slide down into the pond anymore:

A small sample of the numerous baby fish.  The big ones you see are the koi, Kyle and Sam, and Bruce, one of the shubunkins.  So far, we know there are at least 15 babies, but they’re small and fast, so we can’t get an accurate count.

And, of course, this is all incidental, because the real purpose of the pond (and, in fact, everything we do) is to please the cats.
